LIIVIRAKKAUS

Se sopi mainiosti New Yorkin ihanan lämpimään kevätpäivään lauantaina.

the Fringe Goes Out

I love my H&M fringe vest, and it's been perfect for the cool spring weather. This past Saturday I put the fringe to work, and it was on the go all day.

First it went to run an errand in the morning. It was paired with an old Andrew Marc leather jacket, Target jeans and Fendi bag.

Then it got to go to a 40th birthday party brunch, for which it was paired with Ann Taylor pants, and a Valentino bag.

The party was at the Breslin restaurant located in the Ace Hotel on 29th Street. A very cool hipster kind of place.

The food at the Breslin was to die for..probably the best brunch food that I've had in a long time.

how yummy does this look? as yummy as it tasted ;-)

High Winds

I haven't posted any business outfits for a long time, so here's today's:

I'm sitting at JFK waiting for a delayed flight to Boston. Life has been busy lately, but then again, I don't really remember a time when it wasn't busy. Olen jo jokusen vuoden ymmärtänyt miksi tätä elämänvaihetta kutsutaan ruuhkavuosiksi. So instead of getting frustrated by the delay I'm embracing the opportunity to rest and daydream. Onneksi en edes pakannut laptoppia mukaan, kun tämän piti olla supernopea in and out reissu.

Yesterday I heard a presentation at work that included a quote that sums it up pretty well: "We must free ourselves of the hope that the sea will ever rest. We must learn to sail in high winds." by Aristotle Onassis.

Hyvää viikonloppua rakkaat ystävät!

Prints & Color

I'm not that big on prints, or for orange, but for some reason I just love my Armani coat. It was love at first sight and I'm still in love. And since it's super cold again, I get to use it some more this season.  The old Target print jeans I almost purged from my closet already once, but then I put them back at the last minute, and now I've been wearing them a lot again. (This is why I have such a hard time purging!!)

Ja laukku taas taynna evaita, heh.

Ettei vaan tulis nalka ja paha mieli.

Tassa taidan sukia hiushaivenia korvan taakse.

Mitas siina virnistelet?

Ladies who Brunch

My long time favorite brunch place is A.O.C on Bleecker Street. It's not one of those places where people go to "be seen", and because of that it's just right. And in the New York restaurant scene, where restaurants come and go in a New York minute, it's been around forever. That says something about the quality of the place.

My outfit was a mix of old and new. The white vest is a brand spanking new purchase from Anthropologie (where I made a bit of a killing on Friday). The rain coat is an old Marimekko.

My daughter was wearing more new Anthropologie (the top and pants)!

It is so much fun to hang out with this young lady!
I'm so lucky to have my daughter be such a friend to me.

April Showers

I completely missed the opportunity yesterday to fool someone on April fool's day. I don't usually miss that opportunity, since I'm actually known for good Aprillipila. One year I lied to my husband that school called and our daughter was suspended. She was maybe 6 then, in first grade, and the sweetest thing with absolutely no possibility of getting suspended from school. It all ended up in a big drama. My husband and daughter say they were scarred by the incident, I just think it was hilarious. Another year I told a good friend that my cat gave birth to kittens. We had discussed just a few days prior that I didn't know if the cat was a male or female (long story). My friend dropped everything to come and see the kittens. We still laugh about that one.  But this year I was too preoccupied with starving myself, I mean starting a diet. I've very stealthily put on quite a few pounds in the past couple of years, and I just got fed up now. I generally eat very healthy, but even healthy stuff can make you fat if you eat too much of it...Anyway, next couple of weeks will be South Beach type diet first phase, i.e. no carbs and sugar, and just small meals consisting of veggies and protein every three hours. I'm pretty sure that I'll be pretty cranky! Anyway, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.

The a word about today - it was a New York City day for me and daughters, and it was really quite pretty in the rain.
