Prints & Color

I'm not that big on prints, or for orange, but for some reason I just love my Armani coat. It was love at first sight and I'm still in love. And since it's super cold again, I get to use it some more this season.  The old Target print jeans I almost purged from my closet already once, but then I put them back at the last minute, and now I've been wearing them a lot again. (This is why I have such a hard time purging!!)

Ja laukku taas taynna evaita, heh.

Ettei vaan tulis nalka ja paha mieli.

Tassa taidan sukia hiushaivenia korvan taakse.

Mitas siina virnistelet?

April Showers

I completely missed the opportunity yesterday to fool someone on April fool's day. I don't usually miss that opportunity, since I'm actually known for good Aprillipila. One year I lied to my husband that school called and our daughter was suspended. She was maybe 6 then, in first grade, and the sweetest thing with absolutely no possibility of getting suspended from school. It all ended up in a big drama. My husband and daughter say they were scarred by the incident, I just think it was hilarious. Another year I told a good friend that my cat gave birth to kittens. We had discussed just a few days prior that I didn't know if the cat was a male or female (long story). My friend dropped everything to come and see the kittens. We still laugh about that one.  But this year I was too preoccupied with starving myself, I mean starting a diet. I've very stealthily put on quite a few pounds in the past couple of years, and I just got fed up now. I generally eat very healthy, but even healthy stuff can make you fat if you eat too much of it...Anyway, next couple of weeks will be South Beach type diet first phase, i.e. no carbs and sugar, and just small meals consisting of veggies and protein every three hours. I'm pretty sure that I'll be pretty cranky! Anyway, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.

The a word about today - it was a New York City day for me and daughters, and it was really quite pretty in the rain.

The Jacket that Saved the Day

So this is what happened.. I bought a dark blue fake fur jacket from Zara a while back but never ended up wearing it because I felt that it made me look fat. So I threw it in a bag in the back of my car with the intention of returning it. It traveled in the trunk for a few weeks, half forgotten, and I felt a twinge of guilt every time I opened the trunk. And then on Saturday, at the egg hunt, the jacket saved the day. My oldest daughter had dressed herself very lightly and was surely going to catch pneumonia if it wasn't for the jacket that just happened to be in the trunk.

I'm still trying to convince her to keep the jacket. I think it looks great on her!

I was wearing my old favorite, the white Michael Kors poncho, gray NYDJ jeans, and of course my new favorite bag!

Hey you, sneaking in the background!  Get out of my outfit photo shoot!

Easter Weekend (Saturday)

I like Easter; it doesn't have the pressure of Christmas, and usually the weather is mild in the early spring. We spent a lot of time outdoors this Easter enjoying the crisp fresh air and the beautiful Long Island nature.

On Saturday we went to an egg hunt event at the Caumsett State Park.

After the egg hunt, we went for a walk at the nearby Target Rock state park, and enjoyed a brief cold moment at the beach. It was too windy to stay for very long.

This one found a skull shaped rock

More Signs of Spring

It is so lovely to see the first crocuses coming up in the spring. These were planted by me and the kids last fall.
Every year I am as excited and amazed to see the little suckers growing.
