I always wondered why they call Juhannus, i.e. the Midsummer, or the summer solstice, the first day of the summer in the US. It's the longest day of the year, so logically it's Midsummer... Be that as it may, this is a lovely time of year. Or maybe not so lovely this year, in Finland, where there have been some crazy weather patterns. Hopefully it will warm up before my trip there in mid-July!
I will spend my Midsummer at a graduation party in Pennsylvania, but I celebrated my Juhannus-aatto yesterday in good company and beautiful scenery with another picnic...
