Father's Day

We took daddy for a dinner in the City. And stopped to pose for pictures on the way.

Sisters in their summer dresses.

I know it's interesting to try to see what's down there but DON'T put your fingers in the crate!

I told you not to do it.

Daddy and his Daughters.

Happy wife happy life. Although, on Father's Day, we probably should have said happy dad, everyone's glad.

The new au pair.

What are these things for again?

Daddy loves Brazilian churrascarias, ever since we visited one in Rio De Janeiro years and years ago. So on Father's Day we go to a churrascaria, this time Fogo de Chao on 53rd Street. It was pretty good as churrascarias go. The filet mignon was out of this world!

Pineapple juice in a real pineapple.

And of course after dinner a quick pit stop to check out what's new out in the shops.

Summer Sunday afternoons the City gets a bit less crowded.

Traffic slows down so you can do this!

That twilight moment is dreamy.

Bye Bye City.

Date Night

It's hard trying to keep the date night alive... life gets too busy, and we get too lazy, something always seems to get in the way... It's pretty amazing how two party animals became such home bodies. But there is definitely something to be said about date nights. It's nice to get out just the two of you and remembering that you still have fun together and enjoy each other's company. We try to go out once a month for a date night, whether it's a movie, dinner, or drinks (or all three), but usually it only happens every couple months. Anyhow, tonight is a date night, and this is what I'm wearing.

H&M Jeans, Peter Nygard top, Nine West sandals, Chanel bag, Alexis Bittar necklace, Rolex watch.

Yummy Eats

It was Father's Day the other weekend and of course we made a nice breakfast for daddy. My 11-year old took charge and wanted to make an oven pancake that her class had made at school. It turned out great, especially with some powdered sugar and fresh raspberries - so yummy. Sometimes simple things are the best. I love it when the kids cook!

My Little Baby Bumblebee

Our dance studio puts on a big production at the end of the year. Little girls on a big stage in a huge auditorium. The last couple of months the classes  just practice their recital numbers. The little ones are so adorable when they dance - it doesn't even matter what they do on the stage. I tried to upload the video I took during the dress rehearsal, but for some reason I kept getting an error code and it wouldn't work.. Too, bad, because the dance really is very cute. But, for now, pictures will have to do.

Happy Midsummer!

I always wondered why they call Juhannus, i.e. the Midsummer, or the summer solstice, the first day of the summer in the US. It's the longest day of the year, so logically it's Midsummer... Be that as it may, this is a lovely time of year. Or maybe not so lovely this year, in Finland, where there have been some crazy weather patterns. Hopefully it will warm up before my trip there in mid-July!

I will spend my Midsummer at a graduation party in Pennsylvania, but I celebrated my Juhannus-aatto yesterday in good company and beautiful scenery with another picnic...

These summery pictures, however, are still from the Bayshore picnic a couple of weeks ago.

Happy First Birthday Coco Loco

Happy First Birthday to our lovely poodle Coco!  She has grown a lot since we got her last August when she was just 8 weeks old, a tiny puppy that looked like a little stuffed animal. She was so cute she almost looked fake. Coco has become an important member of the family, and is truly the perfect family dog - extremely friendly, loves people, loves kids. She's also getting smarter as she's growing out of the puppyhood. Here is Coco's first year in photos. (I was trying to put them is a chronological order, but it didn't quite work. I hope you'll be able to figure it out anyway and see the change.)

These are the most recent pictures of coco, from the Bayshore Gardiner County Park, which is one of the rare parks where you can take dogs to the beach. It was Coco's first time in the ocean, and she took to it happily.
