Skater Dress

Throughout the years I have loved to see the different styles my au pairs have had and how the personality comes through in their style. All my au pairs have been stylish in their own way, some are  real fashionistas, some more trendy, some more sporty, some very "street", some a bit artistic...and of course a blend of current trends adapted to the individual style.  I have to say Finnish girls have a great style!

Road Trip Outfit

As J.R.R. Tolkien famously said, not all those who wander are lost. I love road trips, the sense of freedom and adventure. So I'm happy my au pair is getting the experience this weekend. This was her leaving for the road trip on Friday morning.

I have to quickly get in my au pair's outfit photos before she leaves us. This was from a sunny day in April. Just thinking about her leaving soon puts a weight on my chest and tension in my neck. She has been such a delight, beautiful inside and out. The kids will be devastated...(me too)... And I will miss our deep discussions about fashion and style, and having someone with great taste to ask for style opinions...

White and Green

My au pair had on a very cute outfit at last night's dinner - combining white and dark green. The green brought an unexpected element to the outfit, bringing it up a notch, and making it more interesting. Toats adorb, as my daughter would say...

The Leather Jacket

The leather jacket is very big this season. Seems like everyone has to have one. My au pair bought this gorgeous black biker number from Zara. It goes so well with the Stella McCartney clutch, which is a bit rock'n'roll, but still sweet and sophisticated. Both items so perfect for this beautiful girl! This is another catch up post...hopefully we won't need leather jackets for much longer!

The Gray Sweater

Big cozy sweaters are a huge fashion trend this fall/winter season. Can there be a better trend? I love it! And I love this big cozy gray sweater my au pair rocks with such poise. Paired with a Louis Vuitton scarf, ooh la la… so chic too!

Gray and beige laid-back luxe

I just love this outfit - It looks very Michael Kors somehow. Luxe and laid-back and classy. I wish I would've looked half this good when I was 19!

My au pair bought this great little book of novels that has stories written by many famous people who remember their experiences from when they have just moved into New York. Could be an interesting read if you're planning to visit the City, or perhaps even move here... 

The book was purchased at the Three Lives & Company bookstore on 10th Street. Also worth a visit if you're in NYC. A cute little independent bookstore, a vanishing species in this time of e-books and Amazon.

My au pair is so pretty. I keep telling her she should go and try out as a model. She certainly has the looks for it! Beauty and brains in the same package. (And a fashion lover too.) This girl will go places!

Debut

My beautiful au pair is a very stylish young lady. Her style is a mix of latest trends, preppy and classic, mixed up in a cool and personal way. At Saturday's party she wore black and white with a statement necklace. Isn't she gorgeous?
